Helen was born in
Liverpool
on the 6th August 1975. She became a keen artist at the early age of twelve and won small prizes for her work. She completed a Fine Art Degree and in the last year of the course, developed a keen interest in the Internet and the Digital Arts.
This gave rise to her moving to
Manchester

With ten years of experience behind her as a Designer and part time artist. Her current plans are to improve her technique and concentrate on the usability aspects, statistical information, and new technologies, flash animation and improving her knowledge in databases.
She is also developing an online business 'Dolce-Play gallery'. With online purchasing facilities, selling her art work and other artists work in the
UK
and Worldwide. Because of her strong knowledge in webdesign and databases. The team 'Dolce-Play' has created a website that is creatively beautiful but technically strong with a large database search engine.
Where can I see your work?
Please check out the news page which is displayed at the first page . To find out about current and forthcoming exhibitions. If there is nothing in your area and you really need to see my work please use the contact page to enquire about a private viewing.
Do you have an artist's statement?
Statements are usually published at the bottom of the piece of art work.
Do you have any special process or techniques?
Montage and abstract. On my fine art degree I wanted to find, what I thought was my own unique style and completed this with the pieces you can view in the art section above/montage.
I've come to question this unique thing as I don't think you can be ever be unique and have seen many different interpretations of what I thought at the time as 'my style' all over the arts world.
The idea of my own unique style written down
'When you go up to the painting you should have the opportunity to 'pause for thought'. With small pictures and pieces of text, which are about one particular subject . But also when you are far away from the painting you should see one strong abstract shape or image standing out from the kaos of images and text. The whole piece will also be rich in colour and texture.'
Do you take commissions?
Yes, if you think it will 'float my boat', contact me and I may be interested in joining.
What are your influences?
Inspirations, can be anything that nudges my interest. This might be great artists such as the Surrealists, Damien Hirst and David Hockney or bizarre and mundane everyday things, such as how wind blows leaves around.
I studied the surrealists on my fine art degree and was interested in the question of whether I should do 'Arts for Arts Sake' or should I communicate my opinion with it. As I already liked to do my art about subjects of interest and almost used art to educate myself.
I decided that art could be more than just a pretty picture, in so many ways. Some of the surrealists realised this question and gave up art to become activists in the issues that where important to them. Art for me - is a great way of learning about different subjects and over the years I've found by jumbling up thoughts in my artwork and using quotes and historical dates. It has no directional opinion but hopefully can provoke a viewer to research on these issues themselves therefore to find out, what opinion they may have on the subject.
I think it is really important that people find out 'who they are' and not what 'society says you are'. This means questioning heavy subjects such as politics, science, economy, maths ect.
What are you currently working on?
Currently working on small pieces that I hope to sell on the Dolce-Play gallery and exhibit around the north west.
